Adult Family Living

About the Program

ElderHouse has provided support to caregivers for more than 40 years. We recognize that good care starts in the home and is essential to the well-being of older seniors. To serve the growing number of individuals taking on the role of caregiving, ElderHouse is now an accredited provider of Adult Family Living.

The Adult Family Living program offers guidance and financial support to caregivers, helping them to succeed in providing the best care possible. Caregivers receive expert advice on managing daily tasks and a monthly tax-free stipend. This monthly payment affords caregivers the opportunity to be compensated for the care and assistance they give to seniors. Caregivers can be a family relative or friend.

Caregivers Benefit From:

  • Support and guidance from professionals trained in geriatric care.
  • Monthly in-home nurse visits.
  • Training in caregiver topics including managing a person with memory loss, mechanics of providing personal care, safety and home security.
  • A monthly tax free stipend. In many homes, family members would be paid for the work they are already providing for free.

To Qualify for the Adult Family Living Program:

Caregivers:

  • must be 21 years of age
  • can be a family relative or friend, but not a spouse
  • may reside and provide care in either the caregiver or senior’s home

Seniors:
